Suzanne Lucas - the dream we carry inside us
Sometimes the dream we carry inside us refuses to stay quiet.
It may wait patiently for years while we build a career, raise a family, take care of responsibilities, and do all the things life asks of us. But if that dream truly belongs to us, it continues to whisper until one day, we finally decide to listen.
As I was making new connections here in Sarasota, a wonderful singer named Suzanne Lucas caught my attention. I began following her performances - her “gigs,” as she calls them - and every time I listened to her, I felt there was more to her story.
Suzanne spent many years building a successful career in car sales, but music and jazz continued to live in her heart. Eventually, she found the courage to give that part of herself more space and begin a completely new chapter.
The more I watched her perform, the more I couldn’t stop thinking that she needed a concert of her own.
A concert where her voice would not have to compete with restaurant noise, clinking plates and glasses, servers walking between tables, or conversations happening around the room. A place where the audience would come specifically to listen. A theater where Suzanne could step onto the stage, share her music without interruption, and create a true connection with the people sitting in front of her.
Because Suzanne doesn’t simply want to sing songs. She wants to tell a story. She wants people to feel something. Most of all, she wants her music to reach the listeners’ hearts.
Right in front of me, a beautiful Sarasota story began to unfold, a story of reinvention, pursuing a passion, and having the courage to begin a new chapter, no matter where you are in life.
I believe we all need stories like Suzanne’s. Stories that remind us that it is not too late to listen to the quiet voice inside us. It is not too late to try something new, step into the spotlight, or finally give ourselves permission to follow the dream we may have carried for years.
So I decided to help bring Suzanne’s story to the stage. I started producing the concert, booked the theater, and began putting everything in place so she could finally experience the dream of performing her very own concert. There are many details behind creating an evening like this, but it all began with one simple feeling: Suzanne deserves to be heard.
On Saturday, September 26, that dream becomes real with “From My Heart to Yours.”
This will be more than an evening of jazz. It will be Suzanne’s first concert and an important moment in her personal journey. It will be a night filled with music, emotion, and the special connection that can only happen when an artist is given the space to share what is truly in her heart.
I hope you will join us, listen with an open heart, and become part of Suzanne’s very special first concert. Your presence will not only fill a seat in the theater, it will help make this long-held dream a reality.
